Our Goal
We are working hard to proudly feature Bavarian Wines from the Franken wine-growing region in Bavaria. They produce a number of white and red wines including several grand cru equivalents. Most Franconian wines are customarily bottled in the “Bocksbeutel”, a characteristic type of wine bottle with the form of a flattened ellipsoid.
The white wine uses the rare Silvaner grape and it possesses a neutral flavor making it the perfect canvass to showcase the fine terroir of the region. This very dry wine has notes of lemon and floral aromas in the nose. It is earthy and minerally with little fruit on the palate. The dry red wine is pressed from the grape Domina which was created in 1927 by crossing Blauer Portugieser with Pinot Noir. This gives it the classical pinot notes of cherry and tobacco, in addition with a more full bodied flavor.
