Stein Club Corner
A big THANK YOU! to all of you who helped to make this
year's Thanksgiving Food drive a great success - we were
able to deliver over 600 pounds of food. Please give
yourself a hand of applause.
Christmas Party : December 10, Wednesday
The North Texas Foster Kids organization needs our help.
These children need some security in their lives. If you
can bring a stuffed toy, one that a child could sleep
with, it would make it feel a little more like
Christmas. Should you forget, we have a special
arrangement with the Make-A-Wish foundation and you can
obtain a very nice stuffed Teddy Bear that evening.
Once again, Todd, the generous representative from
Spaten,
is our bier sponsor and as always he has a special way
to
make it feel like Christmas.
Also, a new addition this year, Gary Hirsch of Hirsch's
Meats
is sponsoring a Cool(er) a raffle. This cooler will be
loaded
with delicious seasonal products from his butcher shop.
You may purchase a raffle ticket for $2 or 3 tickets for
$5 to increase your chance at this extremely valued and
coveted opportunity.
At the party, you'll receive tickets for two steins of
bier with a
Choice between Spaten Helles or Spaten Oktoberfest and
tasty
hors d'oeuvres prepared by the Bavarian Grill culinary
staff
provided by Juergen in appreciation of all present.
Remember, the evening is courtesy of our sponsors.
Please thank them while you're enjoying the evening.
Remember! Drink Responsibly . . .
and always use your Stein during the meetings - except
for wheat biers of course.
Prosit!

President, Bayern Stein Club

In the News:
Bier is good for you! |
|
|
BEER IS GOOD FOR US - While red wine has long gained media
attention for its health benefits, researchers are now finding
that similar consumption patterns of beer offer the same
benefits and possibly more. For example, researchers at Oregon
State University have found that an antioxidant in hops may halt
the growth of prostate cancer. A similar study of hops in
Austria Tufts University study 3000 beer drinkers showed that
those who drink one to two beers a day have higher bone-mineral
densities than nondrinkers. In similar study published in
Austria suggested that the antioxidants in hops may ease chronic
inflammation that is linked with cardiovascular disease,
Alzheimer's and arthritis. |
