Stein Club Corner
Greetings,
The Stein Club has begun 2010 in style with
our annual January dinner of Gruenkohl. As
usual, Juergen and his team outdid
themselves with a great meal. February 10th
will bring our monthly meeting in the
Biergarten. Dennis Wehrmann from the
Franconia Brewery in McKinney will be
providing the bier for the evening along
with a brief overview of what is on the
horizon at the Franconia Brewery.
We will be raffling off a cooler of seasonal
products from Hirsch's Meat Market located
on Parker Road just west of the Bavarian
Grill. We thank Gary Hirsch for his
generous contribution to our bi-monthly
raffle. You may purchase raffle tickets for
$2 each or 3 tickets for $5. Proceeds from
the raffle will go to various Stein Club
charities.
Speaking of Stein Club charities, the Stein
Club officers want to once again thank each
and every one that participated in the
Christmas Stuffed Toy Drive. Your
generosity was overwhelming. The 241
stuffed animals were given to My Friend's
House, Collin County Children's Advocacy
Center, Christmas Cops of Plano, and North
Texas Foster Children. In addition to the
stuffed animals over $450.00 dollars was
given that evening. That money will be
given to My Friend's House along with a
matching contribution from Microsoft as a
total of $ 1000. Thank you Stein Club
members!

Schlachtefest Dinner. If you like to
participate in
this event,
please make reservations: buy a ticket at
the bar, as we want to cook enough food for
you and your friends. Than just come over
and join us. Here is the menu:
Aschaffenburger Schlachtetopf mit Wurst,
G'selchtem, Sauerkraut und Kartoffeln. A new
delicacy: Enjoy fork tender cured and smoked
Pork cooked in Sauerkraut together with
other sausages and potatoes. As any Stein
Club officers how they enjoyed the sneak
preview in our last officers meeting.
Included in this meal are 2 1/2 liters of
the new Spaten Munich Dunkel - all at the
low price of $ 29.95 per person with a $ 5
discount for Stein Club members.

Where in Bavaria are we?
The correct answer and the winner are:
After a great deal of research I was able to
pinpoint this as the
Bavarian
State Parliament Building
(the Maximilianeum) in
Munich.
The building is located on the banks of the
Isar River and was built for King
Maximillian II by
Friedrich Bürklein between 1857 and 1874.
Today it houses the Bavarian Parliament (Landtag
and Senate). Originally the building was
intended as a picture gallery and training
institute for civil servants. This one was
especially tough because the Internet link
to the larger photo/panorama was broken.
