Neueste Nachrichten vom Stein Club June 14 Stein Club Meeting Features Warsteiner Bier WHO: Bayern Stein Club members WHAT: Bi-monthly meeting WHEN: 7 p.m., Wednesday, June 14 WHERE: Indoor Biergarten, Bavarian Grill in Plano Warsteiner, one of the top-selling Biers in Germany and throughout the world takes the spotlight at the June Stein Club meeting. The Warsteiner Ambassador will attend with information about their product as well as Bier samples, gifts and souvenirs for club members. The Bavarian Grill offers two selections of Warsteiner Bier. The Premium Verum is a pilsner-style Bier with a smooth, rich, full-bodied taste wrapped in a thick, creamy head and a refreshing hop finish with no aftertaste. Warsteiner Premium Dunkel, German for dark, offers an incomparable taste satisfaction with its subtle spiciness, delicate aroma and balance. What makes the Premium Dunkel distinctive is its thirst-quenching, refreshingly drinkable flavor. The Warsteiner Brewery, Germany’s largest privately owned brewery, is situated near the city of Warstein in the north-central area of the country. It was founded by the Cramer family in 1753. Stein Club Announces Christmas in July Food Drive Bayern Stein Club members understand that people need help at times other than Christmas. That is why we are sponsoring a “Christmas in July” food drive, which is now underway and will run until July 25. As in the past, the support goes to God’s Food Pantry of Plano. This non-denominational food bank serves the community by extending a helping hand and providing food for those facing dire circumstances beyond their control. There are two ways to make a contribution: -- Non-perishable food items can be dropped off at the Bavarian Grill. The cart is located in the main lobby for this purpose. -- Monetary donations will also be accepted. Collection boxes are located at the bar where you can make a donation. Soccer Watch Parties Planned During World Cup Tournament It all begins at 10:55 a.m. CDT, Friday, June 9, when Germany meets Costa Rica in Munich for the opening match in the round-robin phase of the 2006 FIFA World Cup Tournament. Fans from throughout the world will watch the action, including those who join us at the Bavarian Grill to get that feeling of being in Germany, the host country. Every World Cup match can be seen in the United States on ESPN, ESPN2 or ABC. Join us for other key first-round matches, including Germany vs. Poland at 1:55 p.m. CDT, Wednesday, June 14. During any game involving Germany or the United States, order a Loewenbrau Dunkel for the regular price and get a second one for $2. Everyone is also invited to a watch party beginning at 1:30 p.m. CDT, Saturday, June 17, when the U.S. team battles division favorite Italy. Get a Bitburger T-shirt with a paid meal as long as supplies last. Did you know: The Bayern Stein Club was organized in November 1993 with the opening of the Bavarian Grill? The late Johann Kaufmann, completed the first Bier card and eventually became the club’s first president. For those of you interested in this dish, and even may want to experiment with it at home, please go to newsletters_stein_club_background_July dinner.html . The dinner will feature Spiessbraten, a flavorful pork roast specialty. Because it is Sommer, a light Franziskaner Weiss Bier will be served with the dinner. The cost is $29.75 ($24.75 for Stein Club members), which includes two half-liter Biers. Please make your plans now to join us. Stein Club Welcomes Five New Members Five guests of the Bavarian Grill recently completed their first Bier Card to become official members of the Bayern Stein Club. Their personalized steins are on order. Names of the new members were listed as Don Stafford, J. Angel Puebla, Eric LaSatz, Donn Enrath and Herr Wunsch.
