Maifest Dinner Highlights Hofbrau Maibock WHEN: 7 p.m.Wednesday, May 10 WHO: Bayern Stein Club members and other interested guests WHAT: Bi-Monthly Dinner WHERE: Indoor Biergarten, Bavarian Grill, Plano, Texas In many parts of Germany, especially Bavaria, the tradition of raising a Maypole, or Maibaum, in May serves to welcome spring. Participants at this dinner may be starting a new Stein Club tradition when they raise their steins of Hofbrau Maibock Bier, which is being introduced at the dinner for the first time locally. The menu will feature servings of all-you-can eat succulent pork shoulder roast with bread dumplings and a medley of spring vegetables. Two half-liter steins of the pale Maibock Bier will be included with the dinner. The price is $29.75 ($24.75 for Stein Club members). Please make your reservations as soon as possible. Special dinners -- open to all guests of the Bavarian Grill -- are normally held on the second Wednesday night of every odd month. Regular Stein Club meetings are scheduled on the second Wednesday night of every even month. More information about Hofbrau Maibock Bier is available in the current issue of the Bavarian Grill’s newsletter at www.bavariangrill.com. # # # Follow World Cup Action at the Bavarian Grill In just a little over a month, soccer fans all over the world will watch the opening match of the 2006 World Cup soccer tournament between Germany, the host nation, and Costa Rica. It will be played in Munich’s Allianz Stadium on Friday, June 9 beginning at 10:55 a.m., CDT. All 64 matches will be televised for American viewers by ABC-TV, ESPN and ESPN2. Many of those matches, including the Germany-Ecuador opener, can be seen at the Bavarian Grill where most of the interest is expected to center on the American and German teams. Other early first-round matches involving those teams include the following: On Wednesday, June 14, Germany and Poland play a match scheduled for 1:55 p.m. Three days later, a special watch party is planned for 1:30 pm., Saturday, June 17, to follow action between the USA and the highly rated Italian team. Bittburger Bier is providing T-shirts to be given as special door prizes. Other first round matches include Germany vs. Ecuador on June 20 and the USA vs. Ghana on June 22. Additional details on those matches will be provided in the June Stein Club newsletter. # # # Warsteiner To Host June Meeting Dallas-area representatives of Warsteiner Bier, one of Germany’s most popular products of the brewing art, are making plans to host the June meeting of the Bayern Stein Club at 7 p.m. June 14, at the Bavarian Grill. The Warsteiner Brewery is situated in the Arnesberg Forest Nature Park outside Warstein, in north central Germany, where the Cramer family has been brewing Bier since 1753. Warsteiner Bier is currently produced in Germany’s largest, privately owned brewery and exported to more than 60 countries around the globe.
