and your trip to and from the Bavarian Grill
One of our regular guests shares his knowledge of the DART system as it relates to the Bavarian Grill:
"I hope you
will not mind me "plugging" the DART bus/rail connections, that is, an excessive
promotion of DART. I do not work for DART but have been a longtime customer,
and am strongly in favor of transportation opportunities other than private
car. As we discussed earlier tonight, DART is a good alternative to private
transport and taxis, and costs very little. To aid your customers, to not drink
and drive, I would like to offer them some connection times, wíth the line 452.
From a personal note, I not only take this line to and from Bavarian Grill to my
present home, but I also take it from work to home, and leave my car in the
garage, and likewise the keys, so no "Promille im Verkehr" so to speak. I'll
only offer the relevant times that your customers can consider to take DART, not
during "breakfast" hours as you are not open anyway.
The closest bus stop to Bavarian Grill, is slightly west of the Jack in the Box,
and slightly east of the building with the State Farm agency, SAS shoes and the
Friseur "Pro Cuts". This bus stop is for busses in the direction of the "Forest
Lane" DART rail station in Dallas which can take about an hour. The other bus
stop is near, and would warrant five more minutes walking time, for crossing
Parker Road at "Premier", to get to this bus stop. Please note also the bus
stop(s) to Bavarian Grill is "Premier" and anyone riding DART bus line 451 would
need to remember to stop at the "Premier" bus stop, when the lighted display
says "PREMIER"
in red dot-matrix letters. From there it's just a matter of going a bit
further past the two-story building, about a two to three minute walk. Again, I
ride the bus to work, and recognize even also the bus stop "DR PEPPER" as a bus
stop very close to my work.
As promised, here are the times for the bus line 452 from "Premier" to "Parker
Road DART Station". The times are different than the ones I sent you earlier.
Routingwise, between Parker Road DART and the "Premier" bus stop, there is no
difference from last month. From Premier to West Plano Transit Center, all
busses take a clockwise journey from Spring Creek and Preston, through
the Legacy Park all the way to Frito Lay, J.C. Penney and several IT company
offices, and back to Spring Creek, then on Preston to Park, Coit and the Transit
Center just off 15th Street. Going from West Plano Transit Center to the
Premier bus stop, the Legacy Park loop is counter-clockwise, then goes mainly
along Parker Road to terminate at the eponymous rail station. But that's a
basic description of the new line 452, on which the Bavarian Grill is located.
The difference on Saturday, is that the bus just turns from Spring Creek to
Preston, and vice versa for the opposite direction and skips Legacy Park
altogether.
I do not recommend for anyone wishing to save time, to take line 452 westward
and southward to West Plano Transit Center and then transferring to line 451 and
continuing on to Forest Lane DART station. The journey can last an extra hour
or so due to the Legacy Park loop Tuesdays to Fridays. They can however when
needed transfer to the line 350 and on weekdays lines 210 and Flex-841 (both
lines subject to a "premium" fare).
So in tabular form, I give you three columns: the Tuesday to Friday schedule
for line 452, from Parker Road DART station, the Parker and Custer Road stop and
the West Plano Transit Center arrival time (for reference). The second series,
I give the time points in a different order. With other lines than 452, the
customers may need to work out the times themselves.

As for the DART rail, it would be extremely difficult to provide a schedule for
the arrival/departure times, so I will give what I believe to be the most
important times.

Hopefully that should be helpful. Please make sure your guests keep in mind
that despite DART's best intentions, it is my experience that the busses and
rail connections aren't very well coordinated at the Parker Road DART rail
station, and there can be about 50 minutes of a delay. Also the times I
provided you will not necessarily be valid past 16th February 2009. The reason
for this is that the current line 451 will be altered to go only from Forest
Lane Station to West Plano Transfer Center. The remainder will be reclassified
as line 452, and will certainly have a different service frequency which I don't
have just yet unfortunately. As soon as I have such information, I will send
this along to you very gladly. To make sure my times are correct, I would
suggest you please take time to go to
www.dart.org, or I can bring along a line 451 schedule to you when I come
back Tuesday the 16th December. I hope you will not mind that I make public
transit suggestions, in an attempt to bring more business to Bavarian Grill."
